一位学生勇敢地回答说：是，都是他创造的。
教授又问：上帝真的创造一切吗?
那位学生回答：是的，教授，当然一切都是他创造的。
教授接着问：如果上帝真的创造万物，那么邪恶也是上帝创造的。既然邪恶存在，根据外在行为反映一个人内心的原理，我们可以假定上帝是邪恶的。
那位学生沉默不语，没有回答教授这个假设性的陈述。
那位教授非常自豪地向学生夸口说，他又再一次证明基督教的信仰只是个神话。
另一位学生举手发言：教授，我可以请教您一个问题吗?
教授回答：当然可以。
那位学生站起来说道：教授，寒冷存在吗？
教授回答：这是什么问题？它当然存在。难道你从不觉得冷吗？
其他学生纷纷窃笑那位年轻人的问题。
年轻人回答说：教授，事实上寒冷并不存在。依据物理定律，我们之所以会感觉冷，是因为缺少热能的缘故。
每个人或物体对能量的获得或传送的情况，都可以测得出来，而热能就是这个使人体或物体获得或传递能量的东西。绝对零度（摄氏零下273度）时完全没有热能的存在。在这个温度时，所有物体分子都呈现静止状态，不会发生任何反应。
所以实际上寒冷并不存在，我们创造这个词汇是为了描述没有热能的感觉。
那位学生接着又问：教授，黑暗存在吗？
教授回答：它当然存在。那位学生说：您又错了，教授，黑暗也不存在。黑暗其实是因为缺少光的缘故，我们可以研究光线，但无法研究黑暗。
我们可以用牛顿的三棱镜把白光分成许多颜色的光，并研究每种光的波长。不过我们却无法测量黑暗，因为只要一道光线就可以划破并照亮一个黑暗的世界，所以我们如何能知道一个空间有多黑暗？我们只能够测量光的强度，不是吗？黑暗是人类用来描述没有光线存在时的一个词汇。
最后这位年轻人问：教授，那邪恶存在吗？
这回教授的回答不太确定了，他说：当然。就像我之前所说的，我们每天都会看到邪恶。每天都有人类以不人道的方式对待他人的例子。它存在于世界各地的许多罪行和暴力之中，这些不是邪恶是什么？
那位学生回答道：邪恶并不存在，教授，至少可以说邪恶本身并不存在。会有邪恶只是因为心中没有上帝，就像黑暗与寒冷一样，邪恶是人类所创造的一个名词，用来描述心中没有上帝的情况。

Did God create evil?
The university professor challenged his students with this question: "Did God create everything that exists?"
A student bravely replied, "Yes, He did!" "God created everything?" The professor asked. "Yes sir," the student replied.
The professor answered. "If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil."
The student became quiet before such an answer. The professor, quite pleased with himself, boasted to the students that he had proven once more that the Christian faith was a myth.
Another student raised his hand and said, "Can I ask you a question, professor?"
"Of course," replied the professor. The student stood up and asked, "Professor, does cold exist?"
"What kind of question is this? Of course it exists. Have you never been cold? The students snickered at the young man＇s question.
The young man replied, "In fact sir, cold does not exist. According to the laws of physics, what we consider cold is in reality the absence of heat. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have, or transmit, energy. Absolute zero （-450) is the total absence of heat； all matter becomes inert and incapable of reaction at that temperature. Cold does not exist. We have created this word to describe how we feel if we have no heat."
The student continued, "Professor, does darkness exist?" The professor responded, "Of course it does."
The young man replied, "Once again you are wrong sir, darkness does not exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light. Light we can study, but not darkness. In fact, we can use Newton＇s prism to break white light into many colours and study the various wavelengths of each colour. You cannot measure darkness. A simple ray of light can break into a world of darkness and illuminate it. How can you know how dark a certain space is? You measure the amount of light present. Isn＇t this correct? Darkness is a term used by man to describe what happens when there is no light present."
Finally the young man asked the professor, "Sir, does evil exist?"
Now uncertain, the professor responded, "Of course as I have already said. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man＇s inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil."
To this the student replied, "Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is not like faith, or love that exists just as does light and heat. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God＇s love present in his heart. It＇s like the cold that comes when there is not heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light."
The professor sat down.
The young man＇s name - Albert Einstein.
